Q. Is it okay if I arrive earlier or later than my scheduled time?
A.

A.
Cancellations due to rain are free of charge. We can accept cancellations even on the day of your reservation, so please feel free to contact us.
If sudden rain starts during your rental, we recommend waiting for a while first, as Okinawan showers often pass relatively quickly.
All TukTuks are equipped with rain curtains, so you can stay protected from the rain.
However, rain is not the only weather condition you should pay attention to. Strong wind is also an important safety concern.
Flying objects and strong crosswinds can make the vehicle difficult to control. If the weather forecast shows winds above 11 m/s, we recommend considering cancellation. Cancellation is also free of charge in this situation. Please do not drive in unsafe weather conditions and always put safety first.

Driving & License Requirements
Q. Can I drive the TukTuk with a regular driver’s license? Is it difficult to drive?
A.
Yes! If you have a valid Japanese driver’s license for a regular passenger vehicle, including an AT-only license, you can drive our TukTuk.
Many customers have driven our TukTuks, and our driving success rate is 100%. The entire process takes less than 15 minutes: approximately 5 minutes for check-in, a 6.5-minute instructional video, and about 3 minutes of one-on-one instruction. After that, you are ready to go!
Even our staff member’s wife learned how to drive it in just 5 minutes. The Motobu and Nakijin areas have relatively few traffic lights and lanes, making them easy areas to drive in, even for first-time TukTuk drivers.

Q. Can I drive the TukTuk on expressways?
A.
No. Expressway driving is prohibited.
Our TukTuks may only be driven on regular roads.
One of the best things about a TukTuk is enjoying the Okinawan scenery and fresh air at a relaxed speed of around 30–40 km/h. Take your time and enjoy the scenic roads of northern Okinawa.

Q. Can I drive in Japan with my foreign driver’s license?
A.
Yes, provided that you have the documents required to legally drive in Japan.
If your driver’s license was issued in a country or region that uses the 1949 Geneva Convention system:
You must bring a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention, together with your original driver’s license and passport.
The IDP must be issued by an authorized organization in your country or region before you travel to Japan.
Important: Japan accepts the booklet-type paper IDP.
Card-type, smartphone-based, or other unofficial “international driver’s licenses” are not valid for driving in Japan.
Please make sure that your IDP is specifically issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention. An international driving document issued under a different convention may not be valid in Japan.
If your driver’s license was issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, or Taiwan:
You do not use an IDP. Instead, you must carry both:
・Your original driver’s license
・An official Japanese translation of your driver’s license
These documents must be carried together when driving in Japan.
How long can you drive in Japan?
In general, foreign visitors can drive in Japan for up to one year from the date of entry into Japan, subject to the validity period of the applicable license or IDP.
Important: Your passport entry stamp may be required.
For visitors using an International Driving Permit, the date you entered Japan is verified using the entry stamp in your passport.
Some Japanese airports have automated immigration gates, and these may not place an entry stamp in your passport. If you plan to drive in Japan, we strongly recommend using a staffed immigration counter and asking for an entry stamp.
If you have already entered Japan through an automated gate without receiving an entry stamp, please consult the immigration authorities about obtaining proof of your date of entry.
Please bring the following documents when you come to TukTukGO:

Rules & Manners
Q. Can I smoke in the TukTuk?
A.
Electronic cigarettes are allowed, but conventional cigarettes are not allowed.
The seats are made of vinyl, which can easily be damaged or burned by cigarette ash. Ash can also easily be blown around by the wind, creating a safety hazard. For these reasons, conventional cigarettes are strictly prohibited.
【IMPORTANT】 TukTuks require more steering effort than a regular car. Therefore, the driver must never smoke while the vehicle is moving, including electronic cigarettes. Please keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel while driving.

Q. Can I bring my pet with me?
A.
Yes, as long as your pet is kept inside a carrier or crate.
TukTuks are very open vehicles with no windows or enclosed walls. If a pet is outside its carrier while the vehicle is moving, there is a high risk of the animal jumping out or falling from the vehicle. For safety reasons, pets must remain inside a secure carrier or crate throughout the ride.

Children & Family Rentals
Q. Can children ride in the TukTuk?
A.
Yes! Families are welcome to enjoy a TukTuk ride together. As a general guideline, children should be able to sit securely in their seat without standing up while the vehicle is moving.
Holding a child on your lap while the vehicle is moving is not permitted under Japanese road traffic regulations. Children must sit securely in their own seat, and we ask an accompanying adult to sit next to them and provide assistance when necessary.

Q. Is a child seat required?
A.
TukTuks do not have seat belts, and therefore the legal requirement to use a child seat is exempted for this type of vehicle.
However, your child’s safety is our top priority. We recommend TukTuk rides only for children who can sit securely in their seats throughout the ride.
Please also note that, due to the structure of the vehicle, child seats cannot be installed in our TukTuks. Thank you for your understanding.

Q. Should I choose the 4-seater or the 7-seater?
A.
The number of passengers is not the only thing to consider. Driving comfort and vehicle size are also important.
The 7-seater is larger than the 4-seater and is slightly more challenging to maneuver. If your group is not confident about driving a larger TukTuk, you do not have to fit everyone into one vehicle. Renting two 4-seaters and traveling together in a small convoy can also be a fun way to enjoy your trip!

Fuel & Returning the TukTuk
Q. What should I do about fuel?
A.
Please return the TukTuk with a full tank of regular gasoline.
Please refuel at a nearby gas station before returning the vehicle. We provide information about gas stations near our shop inside the TukTuk, so you do not have to worry about finding one.
